Reviews for Cannonball Oasis
Review highlights
Based on 262 reviewsCannonball Oasis is widely appreciated for its scenic location and convenient stopover appeal, particularly popular among cyclists and walkers exploring Mackinac Island. Reviewers highlight the friendly and efficient staff, as well as the relaxed atmosphere supported by ample seating options with picturesque views. The food offerings receive mixed but generally positive feedback, with standout items like the fried pickles and classic grilled burgers praised for their flavor and value. While some find certain menu items unremarkable, the overall experience is elevated by the setting and hospitality. The combination of good food, great location, and a welcoming environment makes Cannonball Oasis a favored pit stop on the island’s popular outdoor routes.
Got a soft pretzel ($6) and the famous fried pickles ($8.50). The pickles were indeed excellent - they were quartered spears, and the breading I believe had dill in it. Very tasty and juicy, not overdone or dried out at all. The soft pretzel was nothing to write home about, but the shop is an overall good stop at the halfway point (4 of 8 miles) of the 185 Lake Shore Loop on Mackinaw Island.
Great place to grab a bite while biking/walking around the island. Hot dog and a fry $10. Won't find a better deal on the entire island! And who doesn't like burgers cooked on the grill? Enjoy this classic! Just DON'T feed the seagulls!
Perfect spot to stop for a quick bite during an 8.2 mile bike ride. Friendly people working there. Nice picnic tables to eat at with a view. Away from the crowds too.
The location is phenomenal, catching a bite to eat after a short bike ride from the town center, or about a 1 hour walk through the island. The beach right by it is gorgeous, and there’s plenty of seating in both sun and shade. There was a line but it moved quick, and the staff were friendly. Old school rock being played was a perfect touch for vibes. The food itself was nothing to write home about. Not sure what the other visitors are raving about. The cheeseburger was clearly a frozen patty and was served lukewarm. The patty wasn’t even warm enough to melt the cheese. For 2 burgers, a side of fries, and a medium Diet Coke we paid $30. I understand it’s a premium for being on an island, but overall nothing to write home about. Will we get it again? Yes because of the location and vibe. Is it a good place to go if you’re hungry? Probably not.
The reward for making it up and down Fort Hill, or the fuel to get you up the hill! We kept it simple with soft serve ice cream and Vernors, but they were excellent. The View was unbeatable, and the staff were cordial and quick despite being busy. Worth the trip!
You can't beat the location and the food tops it. Amazing BBQ chicken and ice cream. No amount of line should deter you. Order, sit and take it all in.
I loved my pickle spears! Very nice stop along the outer bike loop. Great for a quick bite, ice cream, or a drink. My only suggestion is to add some sort of speaker or get a megaphone to call names for orders. It gets busy, and theres a lot of people waiting for food. It was very hard to hear names being called out. But overall, it was a good experience and everything tasted good!
It’s a nice little stop to grab a quick bite, definitely a couple of bucks too much per person for what it is. $5.50 for a hot dog and $9.50 for a cheeseburger. I did buy this yellow Mackigan shirt for $20 that I really like and hadn’t seen anywhere else. Love the color and the font and it’s a great cut.
